Bridges are utilized when there is a missing tooth or teeth and the teeth on either side of this gap are crowned. These crowns are joined together by a pontic (crown not attached to tooth) to replace the missing tooth or teeth. Whilst bridges are often replaced by implants these days, they still have a role to play if there is insufficient bone for an implant.
